Tetsuya Tada - Supra Man
As Toyota embarked upon its drive to shed its conservative image and restore its reputation as a performance car manufacturer, the company needed a team of talented engineers to help turn ideas and sketches into products that didn’t just work, but were fun to drive. Tetsuya Tada was one of those engineers, and after his success leading the 86 project he was assigned the sizable task of resurrecting the Supra nameplate. With the cooperation of Toyota, I interviewed Tada-san and delved into his history, his car-making philosophy, and the specifics of how he managed to bring back a much-loved sports car back from the dead.
